Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic, incurable disease. Rheumatoid arthritis is considered an autoimmune disease, which means the body’s immune system attacks the lining of healthy joints. The inflammation of the joints from rheumatoid arthritis causes swelling, pain, stiffness, and tenderness of the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases.
According to the Arthritis Society, rheumatoid arthritis can occur in anyone from toddlers to seniors, but most commonly appears in people ages 25 – 50, affects approximately 1% of the world’s population, and is 2 – 3 times more common in women than it is in men.

Current treatment options are limited for this incurable disease. Medications (such as aspirin), prescription therapies (such as biologic injections), surgery, exercise, and applying heat to an arthritic area are the current treatment options for individuals with RA. However, new medications are being developed.

For Patients, the information you submit on ResearchTrials.org will be used for the above purposes. Because the clinical research sites are located in different countries, your personal information may be transmitted to your nearest research site (or research site you selected).
That research site may be in a different country than the location of the ResearchTrials.org database.
For Sponsors and Physicians, the information you submit on ResearchTrials.org will be used to contact you.
Personal Information will not be sold or rented and will not be exchanged with unaffiliated entities, except to fulfill the Purposes set out above, unless you are first notified and expressly consent to such transfer. Patients, Physicians and Sponsors have a right of access to their own Personal Information in a record that is in the custody or under the control of Probity, subject to some exceptions set out in applicable legislation. For example, organizations are required under PIPEDA to refuse to provide access to information that would reveal Personal Information about another individual. Further, organizations are authorized under PIPEDA to refuse access to Personal Information if disclosure would reveal confidential business information. Access may also be refused if the information is privileged or the information was generated in the course of a formal dispute resolution process.
If access is refused, in whole or in part, Probity will provide the reasons for the refusal. In cases where exceptions to access apply, Probity may withhold that information but will provide you with the remainder of the record.

The ResearchTrials.org web server captures the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of each connection to the website and the specific web pages visited during that connection.
